How much do you love your wife...

You Are A Mermaid is a psychological drama that drops audiences in the deep, dark waters of Elias, a man whose infatuation with his wife fully manifests when she leaves him for the weekend to go to a bachelorette party.

Once alone with his obsessions, he discovers Atlantis, an underground realm ruled by a queen who guides him through a journey filled with mermaids, lip-syncs, and trips to the grocery store. In this experimental, dramatic, and cerebral quest for identity, one question sums up Elias' struggle: How much can you love your wife?

About the project

This was the most difficult project that i have tackled. a four day shoot in the Czech republic with actors and non-actors whose first language was not english (one of the actors couldn't speak english at all). We sought to craft a film that explored gender and drag through the guise of surrealism. Shot on 35 mm film, You Are A Mermaid is a textured look at the surrealist genre.
